The winning film will receive £500 and an official LSFF Award Trophy, and will be announced at the Festival Closing Night at the ICA on Sunday 16 January, alongside our other Festival awards announcements.

Last year’s winner, Ruth Paxton, for her Digicult funded short PARIS/SEXY, “was totally thrilled to hear PARIS/SEXYs title called as winner of the UK Film Council Award for Best UK Short at LSFF8.” She and her team felt “very honoured and grateful to the jury for their praise of the film.” These last months she has relocated to Amsterdam to develop her first feature script, LIAM FIGHTS THE DARKNESS with the Binger Filmlab.

You can see 5 of the nominated 12 films at our Future Voices screening at the ICA on Thursday 12 January, hosted by Skillset and followed by a Q&A session with the filmmakers. The 5 shorts are all films that have received Skillset support in some capacity.

Info and  tickets are available on the ICA website.
