LSFF Announces Award Shortlists!

LSFF announces shortlists for some key Festival Awards!

The 9th London Short Film Festival, in association with their Awards Partners, is proud to announce shortlists for a number of key Festival Awards. The winners will be announced at the Festival’s Closing Night Awards Ceremony on Sunday 15th January at the ICA. The British Council Award for Best New Short

The winning filmmaker will receive £500 in cash, courtesy of the British Council.

The LoCo Award for Best Comedy Short.

The winning film will screen as LoCo’s Discovery Short, highlighting the best new talent at the London Comedy Film Festival, at the BFI Southbank in January 2012. The winning filmmaker will also receive a free place on their LoCollege course ‘Kickstart Your Comedy Career’, worth £100. Thanks to LoCo.
Shortlisted films are:

ALL CONSUMING LOVE (MAN IN A CAT), dir Louis Hudson
TEQUILA, dir Jon Drever
TUMULT, dir Johnny Barrington

The Student Film Festival London Award for Best Student Short.

The winning filmmaker will receive a trip to China (flights and accommodation paid) to screen at the British Council UK Now Showcase in 2012, courtesy of the Student Film Festival London.
Shortlisted films are:

FOR MEGAN, dir Andrea Harkin
LIFE AND STUFF, dir Kumar Satkunarasa
MIRAGE, dir Srdan Keca

The Popcorn Horror Award for Best Horror Short.

The winning filmmaker will receive £300 in cash, plus a year’s subscription to the Popcorn Horror mobile phone app, and two-weeks’ free promotion on their website, including having the winning film posted as “video of the week”, courtesy of Popcorn Horror.

THE ORGAN GRINDER’S MONKEY, dir Jake & Dinos Chapman


The Sheffield Doc/Fest Award for Best Short Documentary.

The winning filmmaker will receive a Delegate Pass for Doc/Fest 2012, courtesy of Doc/Fest.
Shortlisted films are:

ACHANTE, Emily McMegen
DYLAN, dir Ania Winiarska
MIRAGE, dir Srdan Keca

The Underwire Award for Best Female Character.

The winning film is guaranteed a screening at Underwire Festival in 2012, and the winning filmmaker will be invited to sit on the jury for the Underwire Best Director Award. Thanks to Underwire.
Shortlisted films will be announced by Thursday 12th December.

All winning filmmakers will also receive a Lomokino Camera, courtesy of Lomography UK.
