London Short Film Festival are looking for pre-selectors who will view and assist with UK, international, animation and documentary submissions for LSFF 2021.

Overseen and supported by the LSFF programming team, pre-selectors will watch between 400 and 500 films depending on which strand they are viewing between April and September 2020.

We’re looking for candidates who are excited by discovering new work and enjoy watching with a critical eye. Each strand (UK, international, documentary, animation) has a unique identity, and there will be an introductory session in April to get you acquainted with LSFF programming, fellow pre-selectors and the expectations of the process. There will then be one meeting a month to discuss submissions, potential programmes and competition selections.

We receive over 5000 short films each year, and are looking for film enthusiasts with the ability to concisely articulate their thoughts and engage discerningly with a large number of submissions.

These positions are intended for people looking for experience in film festivals or who are interested in becoming film programmers. Previous industry experience isn’t required but we’re always keen to see an interest in film or film festivals. This is an excellent opportunity to gain programming experience, network and play a key role in shaping LSFF programmes.

The fee is £500. Submission numbers are unpredictable, and interested candidates must be able to commit to watching all assigned submissions in keeping with the festival’s timeline. Each pre-selector will be assigned roughly 400-500 films to view, but a certain degree of flexibility may be required.

Applicants do not need to be based in London but will be expected to come along to monthly meetings, though may be able to participate via Skype and meetings will be organised to accomodate all schedules.
