    Eleanor Marechal 2 mins (UK, 2015)

    It’s the 1980s. Big hair, big shoulders and big ambitions are the name of the game. Over in Bolton, matchmaker extraordinaire, Irene, makes home movies and dreams of becoming Lancashire’s answer to Cilla Black. But first she must practice her moves as she takes a trip down memory lane through love, life and the trials of pet ownership.

  • MACHINIC PHYLUM

    Guli Silberstein 4 mins (UK, 2015)

    A symbiosis of human and nature forms, by destruction of video data, dismantling the image, turning it into bursts of colourful pixellation and blurry smears. The processed layers of a little girl, a flower field, and Earth from space, get morphed together to create one substance, collapsing towards an unknown future. We are made out of code and capture our images in code, what is hiding in-between the pixels?

    A short dream of mortality, fusing mechanized animation with archive footage depicting the First World War. Metallic sculptural forms delineate battlefields illuminated and fragmented by perpetual bombardment.

    A childhood memory is triggered by a wander through a local park one autumn evening. Memorably filmed in 1:1 ratio with sound design that lingers in the mind this film is about observation and moments of reflection.

    I told my friend at work that I was 75% Austrian. She said “Are you related to Hitler?" This film was my edible response.

  • SCRIBBLEDUB

    Ross Hogg 3 mins (UK, 2015)

    A film conversation using 16mm film and a projector. 'Scribbledub' explores the dependent relationship between image and sound - the 'scribble' creates the 'dub', the 'dub' informs the 'scribble'.

  • VEILED

    Ciaran McWilliams 12 mins (UK, 2015)

    Veiled lies between the realm of awake and asleep; a place of isolation, where spectres wander, leaving echoes as they pass. Consisting of found 16mm film, forcibly decayed by hand, to create a visual representation of the soundtrack. Veiled is the result of a collaboration between filmmaker Ciaran McWilliams and musician Achromaticist.

    “It’s all about what you do with it afterwards…” one of the voices says. That is make it black and white, wriggle out of the 16:9 frame, and overlap and reverberate the talk and laughter.
