SPECIAL EVENT: Harmony Korine Weekender With MUBI: Short Films

14:30 Sun 17 Jan 2016

ICA ICA Cinema 1

London Short Film Festival celebrates a true original of cinema. Following a festival tradition of spotlighting filmmakers we find inspiring and exciting, we want to hold a magnifying glass up to Harmony Korine to see how his work, particularly Gummo, fits into the current climate of filmmaking. At LSFF, we’ve seen a number of filmmakers whose work has parallels to Korine’s, such as Andrea Arnold, and both Joern Utkilen and Fyzal Boufila (both of whom have retrospective screenings at this year’s festival).

We hope the Korine Weekender of screenings, in partnership with MUBI, will pay homage to a filmmaker who is consistently true to his vision.

HARMONY KORINE: SHORT FILMS

A programme of music videos, fashion films, and other curios, directed by Harmony Korine over his 20 year career. Music videos for Sonic Youth, Bonnie Prince Billy and Cat Power, plus fashion films for ProenzaSchouler. Also included are his recent short films: his documentary for Vice, The Legend of Cambo, and his short drama for Die Antwoord, UmshiniWam. Plus Collected Harmony (Dustin Lyn), a short Nowness produced documentary ahead of his Spring Breakers release in 2014.

Presented in partnership with MUBI.
