Underwire Festival Present Girls on Film
15:00 Wed 29 May 2013
Underwire Festival, the UK’s short film festival celebrating women working across the crafts in film, will be diving into the murky, mysterious and sometimes misogynistic world of short film protagonists and asking where are the women, and what are they doing?
Join us at the film surgery where we’ll be looking at films with female characters at the centre of the story. Later in the panel discussion the debate will be cooking on gas as we take on female characters – the good, the bad and the ugly (and maybe even the sinister, aloof and angry too) – with filmmakers and academic guests.
Continue the conversation late into the evening with networking drinks.
Panelists include:
Philip Ilson – Director of the London Short Film Festival
Layke Anderson – Director of ‘Dylan’s Room’, a short film with an older female protagonist at the heart of the story which featured in our XX category at Underwire 2012
Gabriella Apicella – Screenwriter, board member of Euroscript, Underwire Co-Founder
Lucinda Syson – Casting Director, credits including I Give It a Year, Cloud Atlas, Batman Begins, Syriana to name but a small few
