Breton ‘Surrounded’ Live (World Premiere)
21:15 Fri 11 Jan 2013
The London Short Film Festival and the BFI present a very special live cinema event in conjunction with BretonLABS. Entitled ‘Surrounded’ it will consist of 60 minutes of silent films soundtracked live by the band and feature live re-workings of album tracks from Breton’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Other People’s Problems’ as well as never before heard tracks and film scores. It will also premiere a film shot by the band specifically for this event and feature new films from guest directors and filmmakers.
In a show inspired by early days of cinema, where musicians would conduct a musical interpretation of a silent film, Breton will put their own artful twist on this using the latest effects in audio visual technology.
Five piece Breton are a South London arts collective of film makers and musicians with mastermind Roman Rappak as the front man. From their headquarters in a disused bank they create a unique mix of eerie soundscapes, upfront electronica and effected guitars all coupled with a razor sharp visual sensibility. For this world premier of “Surroundedâ€, the band will be presenting an expansive new collaboration with directors, musicians and multi media artists that promises to be a master class in audio visual emersion.
The music continues in the Benugo Lounge until late with DJ sets from BretonLABS and special guests.
