Club des Femmes presents... The Art of Conscience: A Pussy Riot Fundraiser
19:00 Fri 11 Jan 2013
In February 2012 punk band Pussy Riot played a gig in Moscow’s Orthodox cathedral. By March, Maria Alekhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samutsevich were arrested and later convicted to two years imprisonment for ‘hooliganism on grounds of religious hatred’. One year on, we want to reconsider the censorship that turned these artists into prisoners of conscience, raising money for Amnesty UK’s Free Pussy Riot campaign on the way.
We’re proud to present films that playfully question conscience, consciousness and the potential for revolutionary action in the modern world. Sit back in the familiar space of a screening  these are films that will encourage you to think again about whether or not you¹re happy just to be a spectator.
This is a Club des Femmes fundraiser! All proceeds from the screening go to Amnesty.
