NEW SHORTS #20 THE GOTHIC AND THE GROTESQUE

20:30 Tue 14 Jan 2014

BFI Southbank BFI, NFT3

Grotesque is disturbing. Gothic is magnificent. But both can be beautiful. LSFF joins the BFI Gothic season with a selection of British short films that draw on horror, darker themes and surreal scenarios. Filmmakers tackle challenging subjects to give us thought-provoking gems, shocking images that challenge our perceptions, and films that could be considered bad taste. These films veer from the downright bizarre to those that play with and subvert more traditional horror genres. Watch out for Downton Abbey’s Hugh Bonneville in The Dinner Party, and This Is England’s Jo Hartley in Janet & Bernard.
