SPECIAL EVENT: Analogue Basement: Analogue Pre-curring
16:00 Sat 16 Jan 2016
The 16mm analogue films in this programme, selected from the London Filmmakers’ Co-op Catalogue by David Leister, use a variety of unique production techniques ranging from optical printing, hand developing and constructed apparatus. The tactile quality of film is celebrated in these seminal works with their integral use of sounds, silences and textures.
With the resurgence of film language in the visual community in such events as Bea Haut’s Analogue Recurring events, these works are a reminder of the visual impact of analogue imagery and practice. These films are rarely screened as 16mm so this is a unique and exciting chance to view in their original format.
Filmmakers in the programme include Lis Rhodes, Alia Syed, Nick Gordon-Smith, Vanda Carter, Tony Bloor, Mike Dunford, John Tappenden, William English and Michael Maziere.
David Leister is a filmmaker and performance artist who lives and works in London. Taking references from a photographic background, his films explore the diversity of the 16mm medium with the use of hand processing, photograms, archive and performance.
