NEW SHORTS: Women Under The Influence

16:00 Sat 7 Jan 2017

Hackney Picturehouse

A selection of dramas that give us women making their way in a complex world, harnessing an inner strength and rising above what life throws at them. These women deal with abortion, arranged marriage, homelessness and the darker side of life in suburbia. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

  • DAYDREAM

  • ADONIS AND APHRODITE

David Chaudoir 13 mins (UK, 2016)

Accepting an invitation to a barbecue turns a woman's life upside down... forever. This film is a very slow burn monologue which builds to a very dark twist. When played at screenings it has received laughter and applause. In the tradition of Bennett, Roald Dahl and Saki it explores the theme of satan in the suburbs.
