We present a retrospective of one of music video’s most quietly prolific auteurs, Dawn Shadforth, who will be in conversation with a special guest following a screening of her seminal music videos featuring Kylie Minogue, Sugababes, **Björk, The Streets**Peaches, Oasis, Primal Scream, Moloko and more.
Dawn Shadforth studied Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. After graduating in 1995, she directed documentaries for Channel 4 and Warp Records, before directing her first music video for Kurtis Mantronik, filmed in both Brooklyn and Sheffield. In 1997, her music video for Sheffield band All Seeing I’s single Beat Goes On won for Best Dance Video at the 1998 Muzik Video Awards and for Best New Director and Best Editing at the 1999 CAD Awards. Her music video career broke through in 2001 with the Kylie Minogue video for Can’t Get You Out of My Head, which became a number one hit worldwide. Her 2005 video for The Importance of Being Idle by Oasis starred Rhys Ifans, another number one song that won Best Video at the NME Awards 2005.
