It has been over fifty years since the British ended the protectorate over Kuwait, granting the country independence in the process. But after official nationality was given to just two thirds of the population, one third was left stateless, or ‘bidoon jinsiya’. The Bidoon have faced persecution ever since, denied citizenship and basic civil rights being forced to live on the fringes of society. ‘The Journey Of A Stateless Man’ is about an individual’s struggle to find asylum, told against the backdrop of Calais’ infamous Jungle refugee camp and surrounding areas. Talal journeys from Kuwait in search of finding a country that will accept him and offer safe haven for him and his family. His story is symbolic of the journey and the struggle millions are making across the world to find peace, stability and freedom.
