DOCUMENTARY: Heterosexual Social Contract

19:00 Fri 17 Jan 2020

ICA Cinema 1

How does the influence of normative structures affect our most intimate relations and standing in society? These are documentaries that comment on, react against and subvert heteronormativity - from the various forms gendered labour takes, to the tenderness of BDSM, to the euphoria of being in a space that celebrates transgender women.

Although sometimes a choice and sometimes reclaimed as a tool for empowerment, these social contracts and the roles we might adopt can be suffocatingly oppressive - and rejecting them can be where power and pleasure lie. Featuring the latest from Jan Soldat (Protocols). Programmed by Miranda Mungai. 94’

This programme contains explicit sexual content and reference to child sex abuse.
